Crappy Domo Kun @ Target

I’ve always liked the original Domo Kun. Dark Horse makes a flocked vinyl version, but it’s all about the plush you find at the Japanese shops. When I heard that Domo Kun was the new Halloween mascot at Target, I had mixed reactions about this. I didn’t want Domo Kun to get too much exposure, but I don’t mind as long as the stuff is cute.
Eric Nakamura posted pictures on his blog, and it’s worse than I expected. Some of the stuff is horrible. Domo candy? That doesn’t even look remotely like Domo Kun.
This is supposed to be a pinata, but it looks like a piece of crap. My friend’s toddler could have made that. You can see more pictures of the damage here. It’s a sad day for Domo Kun fans…and for Target fans. I’m pissed that they produced this garbage.

i’m sure different Targets have different things. i’ve seen a few pictures here and there and nothing liked too bad. the ones on that blog are pretty awful.
i haven’t been on a Target run yet, but i’ll have to investigate soon.
I am still in shock that target has a domo run.

I dunno why people posting here are hating on the Domo plushes we are carrying, I think they’re really cool.
If you don’t like the Domos made by Jakks, please do feel free to suggest another manufacturer holding the Domo license and making plushes.
It’s a little more constructive than just hatin on our products…
Benny: the comments here are directed towards the Halloween Domo displays that were at Target for halloween. I was not a fan of some of the Domo-related products, and I stand by my opinion. I actually like the licensed Domo Kun plush dolls and the flocked vinyl by Dark Horse.

A sad day it was, i guess they expected domo kuns fan love to surpass that of even a shitty designed merchandise, huge mistake as this only hurts the fan base. a sad sad day it was.

i didn’t see stuff that bad when i went to target. i didn’t see that weird domo candy skewer… or that pinata.
i saw a decent little bag and i bought a few of those chocolate domos on a stick for the kids. hehe. actually, the only stuff i saw was pretty decent… i guess the targets are carrying different things?
