I love this adorable Halloween print. Kitty Costume Girl is a print made from an original collage/painting by Erica of BluJayStudio. I don’t know much about folk art, but that’s the term I think of when I see her artwork. Her collages and paintings are cute, fun, and made with “arm-fuls of LOVE.” To see videos of her creative process, check out her Youtube channel.
She describes her artwork: “BluJayStudio fine art is made exclusively in British Columbia, Canada. My studio is a beautiful log home in the woods! I have a background in fine art, and all work is hand-made by me. I use a variety of mediums: from paint and canvas, to beeswax and vintage LP’s.”
She also sells original paintings like this one titled Trick or Treat. You can view and purchase her artwork on her Etsy shop or her Ebay auction. I don’t know her personally, but she seems like a fun, creative, positive individual. Her personality shines in her artwork.
I don’t know why, but these paintings remind me of the children’s book Where the Wild Things Are.
I don’t know much about folk art, but its starting to appeal to me. It’s got such an earthy, warm feel to it.
