This is Dehara Yukinori at the opening reception for “World Wide Panty Flash” at GR2. It was such a pleasure to meet him last year at the Jizo Show, and I was so happy to be able to see him again. He is one of the nicest artists you will ever meet.
This is a section of the wall of Panchira aka panty flash. (See this image for an explanation.) Each panty flash comes with a “watcher,” a small relevant accompaniment. It was hard to pick a favorite so I won’t.
This is just two of the many custom Menta. I bought the mint-chocolate chip version on the left. It turns out that the Menta is actually salted fish roe. (Koreans eat this, and I didn’t know Japanese did, too.) I thought it was a veiny alien; I won’t mention what my boyfriend Rodger thought it was.
This is one of the special custom Jizo and Menta pairs. Rodger bought the gold set.
This is just part of the Dehara collection now available at GR2. I bought the pen case which is practically a plush because it’s so plump. You won’t find a lot of this stuff outside of Japan, so I suggest you go now!
This is Dehara Yukinori’s iPhone cover. Rodger asked if the cover was available here, and Dehara apologetically explained that it was only available in Japan. He asked Rodger what kind of iPhone he had. When he saw Rodger also had an iPhone 4, he took the cover off his iPhone and gave it to him! We tried to politely decline, but he insisted we take it. What an amazingly generous gift!
