From January 26 – February 12, The American Cinematheque will present a comprehensive retrospective of Studio Ghibli’s films, including new 35mm prints of several films that have never been released in North America. What a wonderful opportunity to see your favorite Studio Ghibli films on the big screen!

If you haven’t seen Ponyo yet, you’re missing out on a very cute movie. I watched the original release Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea, but I haven’t seen Disney’s dubbed version yet. Now I’m compelled because of this review.
The US vocal cast is headed by Tina Fey as Sosuke’s mom, along with Liam Neeson as Ponyo’s dad and Cate Blanchett as Ponyo’s sea goddess mom. Also popping in along the way are Matt Damon as Sosuke’s dad and a golden girl trifecta of Betty White, Cloris Leachman, and Lily Tomlin as senior center residents.
If you’re going to release a dubbed movie, you might as well go all out! If that review doesn’t convince you, you’ve got to see the trailer. It’s an odd but cute movie.

We’re excited to finally share with you some news of the big secret project that we’ve been working on for the past few(!) years : “the Octonauts” animated TV series!
…The series, comprising 50 x 11 min. episodes and a 22-minute special, follows our team of heroes who dive into action whenever there is trouble under the sea. In a fleet of aquatic vehicles, they rescue sea creatures, explore new underwater worlds, and often save the day before returning safely home. All 8 of the Octo-crew will be ready for action including Captain Barnacles Bear; Lieutenant Kwazii Kitten, Medic Peso Penguin, and more vegimals than you can shake a fishstick at.
