We arrived at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday around noon, and the first thing we did was to head to the Giant Robot booth. The boyfriend and I planned to get a case so we could co-own the entire set. We got our case and got in line for Dave Choe’s signing.

There are two guys standing behind us talking about the Munkos. One of the keeps asking annoying questions like “Are they limited edition? Are they numbered? Are any of the figures numbered? Does the box say it’s limited?…etc.”

I was willing the guy to shut up with my mental powers, but it didn’t work. My boyfriend finally turns around and says, “Some people don’t care about that stuff because they’re fans of the art. Some people genuinely like the artist and want to support.” The annoying guy mumbled something about not meaning anything by what he said.

Maybe my boyfriend appeared rude but he had to make a point. It’s not always about exclusivity and having what other people don’t have. Sometimes it really is about the artist and supporting his/her work.

We love Giant Robot, and we love Dave Choe. Now I can honestly say that we love Munko. We liked the toy before we bought up but now we really love all of them. As soon as we came home, we opened the entire case and had our Munko photo shoot. Get your own Munko at GR. If you buy a case, you get all 12 figures. Honestly, I love them all.

A few months ago, I told you about the upcoming book from DGPH, Space Cadet Topo: The Day The Sun Turned Off. Their book project is now on Kickstarter where fans help fund the book in exchange for exclusive DGPH rewards.

Your donations will help produce 3,000 copies (design, print, ship, import) and spread the word about Topo from the web to schools and libraries. We have partnered with the fan-friendly American publisher Immedium – www.immedium.com. But due to our unique agreement we need to fund the book’s manufacturing to make it actually happen. Plus you’ll provide us the time necessary to perfect Topo’s excellent adventure. We’re full-time freelancers and would appreciate the ability to focus 100% on making a completely colorful universe. Then we hope to share the new book with you by October 2010 along with many cool rewards!

nemu*nemu is a cute webcomic about magical stuffed animals and their owners, and they have tons of cute characters in their shop. nemu*nemu will be at Small Press O-13 with their exclusive Field Notes – super-limited to a run of 30 and available in grid, ruled, or blank styles.

Bumperboy is exhibiting for the 7th year and will be back at Small Press O-16. For the first time, the booth will have needle-felted creations including handmade soft sculpture of Bumperboy.

The adorable Beastlies will be prowling Small Press N-09.
