Uglydoll – 10th Anniversary Wage

Spotted on David Horvath’s Instagram and Google Plus:

We made him for you. Introducing 10th anniversary Wage. An exact replica of the very first Uglydoll, sewn by Sun-Min as a gift for me based on my funny little drawing of Wage on the bottom of my “we will make our tell stories through books and toys dream come true so we can be together again” letter to her.

That letter went out 10 years ago today, the first ever Wage Uglydoll made his way over to me a few weeks later in 2001. I showed him to Eric Nakamura at Giant Robot and he ordered 20 of them, and the Uglydoll toy line was born.

This replica will be released in early 2012, on the 10 year anniversary of Uglydoll’s first few sales at Giant Robot in Los Angeles.

We made this with you in mind. Thanks so much for all the letters, photos, life stories, touching tales of love, happiness and tragedy. Thanks for showing up by the hundreds, and thanks for being there when nobody showed.

Photos from Monster Bossy Bear Signing

Even though the original Bossy Bear will always be my favorite, the new Monster Bossy Bear by Toy2R is darn cute, too. We attended the launch and signing event at GR2 on Saturday.

Here is David Horvath getting ready to sign a little monster.

I didn’t realize that there was a raffle going on during the event until we arrived. I won the Day Stomp Version which is Rotofugi‘s exclusive.

My boyfriend nabbed this one – the Night Stomp Monster Bossy Bear which is exclusive to Tenacious Toys.

You can see the few photos I took on my Flickr. For more photos from the event, visit Giant Robot.

Kaiju Bossy Bear Signing at GR2

Bossy Bear fans! David Horvath will be at GR2 on July 9 to sign the new 5″ Kaiju Bossy Bear, which has been dubbed “Monster Bossy Bear.” This special event will take place from 3-5 p.m. There is no guest list or ticketing required, but signing will be limited to the items purchased at GR2.

Unable to make it to the signing? If you order Monster Bossy Bear from GR’s website by July 9, you can get your figure custom-signed by David Horvath.

Photos: Uglydoll Ceramics Release & Signing

Are the Uglydoll ceramics as cute as they look? Absolutely. Uglydolls as piggy bank and cookie jar totally work. The Uglydoll mugs are microwaveable so that’s a plus.

It’s easy to support anything Uglydoll because David and Sun-Min are so darn nice. My boyfriend’s sister and niece were visiting from Colorado, and his niece is a big Uglydoll fan. She was really excited about meeting David and Sun-Min for the first time ever. Good times for everyone.
