Photos: Jouwe Custom Group Show

Yesterday was the opening night of the Jouwe Custom Group Show at Toy Art Gallery. Photos are cool but you really don’t really how awesome something is until you see it in person. Kevin Gosselin’s baby rhino is really cute.

J*RYU’s piece is as fantastic as you would expect.

Jimmy Foo was another of my favorites.

I already knew I liked Task One’s “420 Jouwe Lane.” When my boyfriend said, “There’s a Radiohead poster inside!,” I did a double-take.

There is an entire scene inside and I almost missed it! See more close-up pictures from the source.

The exhibition runs until November 2, and the pieces are available for online viewing and purchase here. More pictures available on my Flickr set.

Art Dedicated to Mattia Fagnoni

Til The End of the World” is a customized Kathie Olivas Hazel by artist J*RYU. The piece is dedicated to Mattia Fagnoni who was born with “Sandhoff Syndrome”, a genetic, degenerative and lethal disease. Mattia’s parents created the “Mattia Fagnoni Association” to raise funds for finding a cure, and the art community has responded by raising awareness of the cause.

J*RYU created this piece as “a haven where Mattia is not suffering and can play to his heart’s content.” The interior details are beautiful and heartbreaking. Yes, those are teeny tiny comic books and a tiny teddy bear.

Mattia’s Universe” is a custom painted Lite Brite Mad L by Task One and is another contribution to the cause. Quite lovely.

SDCC 2010: Mad-L Lite-Brite by Task One

Lite-Brite, Lite-Brite, turn on the magic of colored lights…

This Mad-L Lite-Brite is pure genius. I loved Lite-Brite, and I love this!! Task One is the genius behind this custom creation. It’s a working Lite-Brite so you could create your own message. Other details: there is a replaceable 7 watt bulb in the head… on/off switch on the cord… and the back has a hole, so you can store all the pins in the body.

The Mad-L Lite-Brite will be available at Dragatomi booth # 3848. See more amazing photos here.
