Right before the opening reception of “Satoshi – The Last Salaryman,” my boyfriend asked me if I planned to buy anything. I said, “No, I can’t afford to buy anything right now. I’m just here to support Dehara and GR.”
This is me after five minutes: OMGGGG, there are about 5 pieces that I really really want!! Which one do I need?!? Help me choose before someone else gets it!!
Dehara Yukinori’s latest solo show is a strange mix involving sex monsters, some violence, a few disgusting monstrosities, and a sprinkle of cute things here and there.
My boyfriend bought one of the mini Satoshi sets. They’re so tiny and cute, and Dehara hand-painted each one.
Of course, this one had my name all over it. When you buy a Dehara piece, they ask to take a picture of you with his instant camera so that Dehara can add it to his collection. They also asked each buyer to write a message on the picture. I suppose I should’ve written something more clever than “Thank you.” But that’s all I really wanted to say. Despite the language barrier, it is always a pleasure to see Dehara.
