Theo Ellsworth “The Sudden Amplification of Certain Senses” at GR2

Fantastical is one word that I’d use to describe Theo Ellsworth‘s latest solo show. “The Sudden Amplification of Certain Senses” is full of great pieces, and it was hard to narrow down our favorites. After mulling it over for a while, my boyfriend decided to buy “Turtle Base.”

I bought “Navigation Bird” because it was so fun and colorful. Plus the little bird’s shirt has an awesome airplane on it. Theo Ellsworth was at the opening, and he said it was one of the last pieces he made for the show.

At the opening, I also met Alex and A’misa Chiu from Eyeball Burp. A’misa shared that Theo has a 7-month old son who got so excited whenever he saw this particular piece. If you’re the person who bought this, now you know!

“The Sudden Amplification of Certain Senses” is at GR2 until August 15, and many of the pieces are affordable. Visit my Flickr for more photos.

Update: artwork from the show now available online.
