After two weeks in the hospital and a week in acute rehab, my mom is finally resting comfortably at home. Last night was the first time we’ve really slept in 3 weeks. It was glorious.
My mom has literally been through hell and back. (If your loved one is ever in the ICU for a long time, look up “ICU psychosis.” That shit is real!!) This was actually her second brain surgery in 10 years; the first was to remove a brain tumor. She is so strong which is just one of the many reasons I admire her.
Two weeks ago, I worried she may never walk again. One week ago, I worried she wouldn’t be the same person as she was before. Today she is walking without any assistance, and her memory is slowly but surely coming back. Each day is a new challenge, but she’s getting there.
I just want to thank everyone who has taken the time to drop me a line, send me a message, and offer their moral support. I couldn’t have gone through this without the support of my friends and loved ones. I love you all.
